January 7, 2025 | Upper Arlington, Ohio
The Upper Arlington Education Foundation (UA+Ed) is pleased to announce the appointment of three new members to its Board of Trustees and extends heartfelt thanks to those whose terms are concluding.
Welcoming New Board Members
As the 2025 year begins, UA+Ed welcomes three exceptional community leaders to its Board of Trustees. Joining the board are Jamie Soteriades Barcelona, Tina Thiara Daniel, and Jessica Voltolini, each bringing a wealth of expertise and passion for providing meaningful educational opportunities for Upper Arlington students.
Jamie Soteriades Barcelona, a Human Resources leader, brings strategic problem-solving skills and a collaborative team-building approach. A 1994 Upper Arlington High School graduate and parent of two daughters in UA schools (Barrington and Jones), Jamie’s volunteer efforts and personal experiences reflect her dedication to creating opportunities for all students. She is grateful for the opportunities she was given in UA Schools and for the support and acceptance of key teachers and administrators. She looks forward to paying it forward by serving on UA+Ed’s board of trustees.
Tina Thiara Daniel, a former Chief Financial Officer at Long Island Jewish Hospital, brings extensive experience in healthcare administration and strategic planning. Since relocating to Upper Arlington from Brooklyn, New York, Tina has actively engaged with the community through volunteering and co-chairing Tremont Elementary’s Fall Fest. Her financial expertise and passion for education will help UA+Ed continue to expand opportunities for students today and for generations to come.
Jessica Voltolini, Chief of Staff for the Ohio Department of Education and Workforce, brings extensive leadership experience overseeing agency operations and strategic initiatives. A parent of two daughters at Windermere Elementary, Jessica is a supporter of students, educators, and school leaders, and actively participated in the district’s 2025-2030 strategic planning process. She is excited to join the UA+Ed board and will be a great ambassador of our foundation and school district.
“We are thrilled to have Jamie Soteriades Barcelona, Tina Thiara Daniel, and Jessica Voltolini join our board,” said Alice Finley, Executive Director of UA+Ed. “Their unique perspectives, areas of expertise, and dedication to education will be invaluable as we continue to build upon our Foundation’s successes and grow our support of the district’s mission to challenge and support every student, providing an exceptional educational experience for all.”
Gratitude for Outgoing Board Members
At the same time, the Foundation would like to express its sincere gratitude to Mitva Patel, Matt Peterson (Board Chair), and Nic Fortkamp, whose terms are concluding. These dedicated individuals have provided steadfast leadership, contributed countless hours of service, and made significant impacts on the growth and success of our Foundation.
“We are deeply grateful for the years of service and leadership provided by Mitva, Matt, and Nic,” said Alice Finley. “Their work on behalf of our students, staff, and community has continued UA+Ed’s legacy of providing meaningful opportunities for students. We are excited to keep them actively involved in UA+Ed initiatives, and remain an important part of our mission.”
“At UA+Ed, we are committed to building a well-rounded board that represents a wide range of expertise, includes representation from every school in the district, and reflects the diverse perspectives and backgrounds within our community,” added Finley.
Looking Ahead
With the addition of new members and the continued service of our current board members, the UA+Ed Foundation is poised for another year of growth and impact. The Foundation is focused on supporting the district in providing an inclusive, innovative, and high-quality educational experience for all students, ensuring they are prepared for success in a rapidly changing world.
