Our Funds
UNRESTRICTED FUNDS
DESIGNATED FUNDS
Endowment Funds provide revenue for grant-making in perpetuity. A grant-making endowment may be established with a minimum of $10,000. An Endowment Fund for scholarships may be established with a minimum of $50,000. The principal is intended to stay intact, while the investment earnings are used to to grow the fund and support students.

Flow-Through Funds are intended to provide designated funding as needed with no maximum amount that may be spent per year. A Flow-Through Fund may be temporary or long lasting.
The 4J Fund
The 4J Fund was established in 2010 and is unrestricted in its use. It funds projects at the discretion of the UAEF trustees.
James V. Allen Memorial Fund
The James V. Allen Memorial Fund provides innovative educational experiences for students.
Arlingtonian Fund
The purpose of the Fund is to provide support and incentives to the Arlingtonian students to enhance their ability to publish excellent journalistic editions while exploring increased, innovative and sustainable revenue streams.
David Auld Class of 1943 Honorary Fund
This fund was created by the Class of 1943 in honor of class president, David Auld, to be used at the discretion of the UA Alumni Association Board.
James W. Baas Memorial Fund
This memorial fund awards a scholarship to a senior with the same commitment to community service and scholastics exemplified by this 1963 graduate and class president. The student chosen must have a 3.3 GPA or higher and have earned a varsity letter.
Francis Richard Barnes Memorial Fund
This fund was established by the family of this 1980 graduate and awards a scholarship to a senior who is pursuing a career in the "helping professions" such as social work, psychology, counseling or related fields of study.
Barrington Elementary School Fund
This fund was established by a group of Barrington parents in 1997 to be used at the discretion of the Barrinton principal for extra materials and programs.
Bear-tique UAHS Free Store
This fund supports a free store at UAHS to supply students with clothing, school supplies, and other basic needs.
JJ Blevins Memorial Fund
John Joseph (JJ) Blevins was a beloved son, brother, grandson and nephew. After graduating from Upper Arlington High School’s class of 2010, JJ went on to become a software engineer and coached baseball and football. He had a big belly laugh and a genuine heart and will be missed by all who loved and cherished him, especially by his family.
The Fund is a lasting memorial of JJ, and provides meaningful support and resources to students in the Upper Arlington Schools who have special needs.
Janet Borden Memorial Fund
The Janet Borden Memorial Fund was established in memory of this beloved mother and mother-in-law. This fund is unrestricted in use.
Kathryn Borghi Memorial Fund
This fund was established to remember this student with physical disabilities and provides funding for digital learning materials to ensure all students have equal access to information.
Burbank Arts Fund
The Burbank Arts Fund was established by Mark and Brenda Gerhardt in 2001 to promote the visual arts for Burbank students.
Richard Canfield Fund
This fund was established in memory of UAHS teacher, Richard Canfield, and supports the UAHS Debate Team.
The Christie Family Fund
This fund was established in memory of Linda and John Christie.
Class of 1959 Charles G. Will Emerging Writer Awards
This fund honors Mr. Will's memory by presenting awards to underclassmen who have shown tremendous growth in their writing and are evolving as emerging writers.
Class of 1960 Professional Enrichment Fund
This fund was established to provide enrichment experiences for professional employees of the Upper Arlington Schools.
Class of 1962 Legacy Fund
The Class of 1962 Legacy Fund was established to honor the many classmates of 1962 who have made a difference in the world thanks in part to their excellent educational experiences in the UA Schools. This fund was established to support service learning at all grade levels.
Class of 1963 Endowment Fund
Class of 1966 Fund
This fund was established in memory of their classmates. This fund is supporting the newly established Innovation Lab at Upper Arlington High School.
Class of 1972 Legacy Fund
The purpose of the fund is to support innovative opportunities and experiences for current and future students.
Class of 1981 Leadership Fund
The Class of 1981 Leadership Fund supports programs and projects that provide students with leadership skills and experiences valuable for their current and future success.
Class of 1994 Endowment Fund
The class of 1994 is proud to announce that they are the first class in the 1990s to create a UA+Ed Endowment Fund. This fund is created in memory of the many classmates they have lost too soon and in honor of the various ways our classmates are leaving our legacy in the world.
UAHS Class of 2007 Endowment Fund
This fund will support meaningful opportunities for students that center around wellness initiatives in UA Schools.
Class of 2023 Endowment Fund
The Class of 2023 created this endowment fund at their graduation this past spring. The purpose is TBD but will support students/projects at UAHS.
Class of 2024 Endowment Fund
The Class of 2024 created this endowment fund at their graduation this past spring. The purpose is TBD but will support students/projects at UAHS.
Comfort Family Fund
The Comfort Family Fund supports student centered opportunities that enhance academics, the arts, music, and science.
Don and Sharon Cook Endowment Fund
The Don and Sharon Cook Endowment Fund supports any area of need as determined by the Superintendent of the Upper Arlington Schools.
Bonnie Darrow Library Fund
This fund was established in honor of this Barrington librarian and supports elementary librarians and classroom teachers.
DeRoberts Family Fund
The purpose of The Fund will be to provide meaningful support and resources to students in the Upper Arlington Schools in all areas of need, with a preference for supporting programs, projects, and experiences in the area of music.
Leah Delcamp Memorial Fund
The Leah Delcamp Memorial Fund was established in 2017 to support programs and projects that reflect the spirit and interests of Leah, specifically, the areas of Reading, Music, Art, Drama, History, and Global Education, to benefit the students at Windermere Elementary in Upper Arlington.
John and Rose-Marie Dilenschneider Great Books Fund
This fund encourages reading initiatives and offers financial assistance to students for the purchase of required reading books.
Joanie Dugger Educators of the Year Award Fund
The Joanie Dugger Educators of the Year Fund (the Fund) was created in loving memory of wife and mother, Joanie Dugger. Joanie retired as Executive Director of the Upper Arlington Education Foundation in 2018 after 17 years of dedication to "Enhancing What Matters Most". The Fund is intended to support the educators who are recognized annually by the Upper Arlington School District as "Educators of the Year" by giving honorees funding for projects of their choice during the school year in which they were awarded. There will be three honorees each year including one elementary school educator, one middle school educator, and one high school educator.
The Dugger Family Fund
The Dugger Family Fund was established in 2018 to celebrate Joanie Dugger's commitment and service the the mission of the Upper Arlington Education Foundation.
Ellen Erlanger Service Learning Fund
This fund honors Ellen's outstanding leadership in service-learning and supports projects initiated by Upper Arlington students.
Louesa Callahan Foster Endowment Fund
This fund was established to honor Louesa's many years of dedicated service to the UAEF and is unrestricted in its use.
Jason Gardner Memorial Fund
The Jason Gardner Memorial Fund was established to remember this 1996 graduate and awards an art scholarship in his memory.
Golden Bear Baseball Fund
This fund was established by former UAEF Trustee, Alexander "Sandy" Thomson, to support the UAHS Baseball program.
Kip Greenhill Fund for Students in Financial Need
This fund supports former UAHS Principal Kip Greenhill's passion for helping UAHS students with financial need.
Greensview School Arts Fund
This fund celebrates excellence in visual and performing arts at Greensview Elementary School.
Alene Griffith Vocal Music Fund
This fund was established in memory of this former music teacher and provides support for elementary and middle school vocal music productions and equipment.
Guy-Gustin Art Fund
This fund provides funding for visual and creative arts as directed by the UA Arts Department. This fund honors retired art teacher Betty Gustin.
Diane Haddad Fund for Innovative Education
Established in 2022, this fund honors Diane Haddad, '73 alumni and retired Upper Arlington High School English Language Arts teacher. The purpose of the fund is to support future generations of innovative teachers and engaged learners.
David Hajek Memorial Fund
This memorial fund remembers this 1992 graduate and benefits students in grades 6-12 who need assistance with tuition for performing arts programs. It also recognizes an outstanding member of the marching band with an "Spirit Award."
Pat Hamilton Memorial Fund
The Pat Hamilton Memorial Fund was created to remember this dedicated retired art teacher and provides an art scholarship to a graduating senior who is pursuing an art degree.
Howard Hanna Scholarship Fund
This fund provides a scholarship to students who have contributed to their school or community through extra-curricular activites and have a minimum GPA of 3.3.
Barbara M. Hardy Memorial Endowment Fund for the Visual Arts
The Barbara M. Hardy Endowment Fund for Visual Arts ​was established through a gift from the estate of this beloved art teacher. Ms. Hardy's career in the Upper Arlington Schools spanned from 1953 to 1993. During this time she taught visual arts classes at the middle school and high school level. The fund is designated to support the Visual Arts.
Trevor Hartley Football Scholarship Fund
This fund remembers this 1993 graduate by providing a football scholarship to a senior who will play football in college but has not received other athletic scholarships.
Heigle Fund
This fund was created by retired principal and teacher, David and Loretta Heigle, and supports innovative, creative, student-centered, technological or service learning experiences.
Dawn Heikkila Memorial Fund
Dawn Heikkila was a beloved 4th grade teacher at Tremont Elementary School in Upper Arlington. Dan Minutilli, Nancy Nye, Debbie Jo Lynn and other students of Mrs. Heikkila have fond memories of being encouraged to read by earning construction paper scoops of ice cream to add to their cones every time they finished a book. She spent time getting to know her students and what made each of them unique. Students were given individualized instruction and the remarkable student(s) were rewarded for their personal achievements. She, like many wonderful teachers, went above and beyond to inspire and motivate students and encourage their individual growth.
Walter B. Heischman Memorial Fund
The Walter B. Heischman Memorial Fund honors the work of this former superintendent and faculty member and may be used at the discretion of the UAEF for district needs.
Tim and Glenda Huffman Fund
The Tim and Glenda Huffman Fund provides UAHS students financial support for both curricular and non-curricular needs and opportunities.
Hysell National Honor Society Fund
This fund provides a scholarship to a member who has given time and effort to the Chapter.
Imhoff Family Fund for Wellbeing and Belonging
The Imhoff Family Fund was created by friends and colleagues of Dr. Paul Imhoff in celebration of his retirement as the Upper Arlington School District Superintendent. The fund supports programs and projects that foster students' wellbeing and sense of belonging.
Innovation Grants Fund
This Innovation Arts Fund provides seed money for innovative ideas presented by students, staff, and administrators. It is a place to go for the creative thinkers in our school community.
The Jeff Koontz Athletic Assistance Fund
This fund supports middle school and high school student-athletes based on financial need and will cover athletic related costs such as team fees, sports equipment or other expenses.
Keith Krieger Music Endowment Fund
This fund was established to remember this 1976 graduate and provides a scholarship to a senior who will continue to pursue performing arts in higher education.
John Lohse Memorial Fund
The John Lohse Memorial Fund honors the memory of this 1991 graduate by providing scholarships to an outstanding science student and an inspiring member of the orchestra.
Meaningful Opportunities Fund
Designed exclusively to support grants that align with our mission, the Meaningful Opportunities Fund has received its lead gift from the Beekman Family.
Homer F. Mincy Fund
This fund honors this long-serving Upper Arlington Schools retired superintendent and creator of the UA+Ed by providing funding for staff development.
Dave Mislan Memorial Fund
This fund was created in memory of Dave Mislan. The purpose of the fund is to support special education programs.
Dr. Charles Wade Moulton Memorial Fund
This fund honors this outstanding student and athlete from the Class of 1976 by providing support for the Cum Laude Banquet, which was renamed in his memory.
National Church Residence Endowment Fund
Created to encourage connection between residents at First Community Village and the Upper Arlington School Community.
Ingrid Olfenbuttel Memorial Fund
This fund was established by the Arlington Bank to remember their long-time employee. It provides a scholarship in the area of environmental science.
The Overmyer Family Fund
This fund supports special education and projects that promote the feeling of belonging.
Sue Pfister Memorial Fund
The Sue Pfister Memorial Fund was established in memory of this devoted and compassionate special education Teacher and is designated for the needs of special education students in the elementary schools.
The Pleasant Litchford Fund
The Pleasant Litchford Memorial Fund supports programs, materials, and opportunities that promote diversity, equity, inclusiveness, empathy, compassion, and respectful engagement among Upper Arlington students, staff and families.
Margaret B. and Harry H. Postle Memorial Fund
This fund honors the Postle's dedication and Monnie's service as a UA School Board Member and President. It provides learning opportunities for teachers, administrators and board members in the most forward thinking educational methods and materials.
Potts Family Endowment Fund
This fund, established in honor of Chris Potts's 23 years serving UA Schools, will assist families with the costs associated with participation and success in areas including academics, visual and performing arts, athletics, and school sponsored clubs and events.
Vera K. Randall Memorial Fund
This fund was created to remember this outstanding English teacher. It supports reading and writing initiatives at the high school level.
Emily L. Reardon Memorial Scholarship
This fund provides a scholarship to a graduating senior who shares Emily's qualities of kindness and compassion to others.
Reddy Family Fund
The Reddy family fund impacts areas of diversity, equity, inclusion, STEM and music related areas.
William F. Schaefer IB Scholarship Fund
This fund is generously provided by this retired superintendent to provide a scholarship to the outstanding IB Diploma Candidate each year.
Brandon J. Sega A.R.T.I.S.T.I.C. Fund
This fund, in memory of Brandon Sega UAHS class of 2009, provides art resources and tools for inspiring students in the Upper Arlington Schools to innovate and create.
Carl D. Smallwood Inclusion Scholarship
Scholarships are given each year to honor a graduating soccer player from the boys and girls teams to support players who, on the field and in the classroom, advance a sense of belonging and welcoming of diverse perspectives, backgrounds and talents. This fund honors Carl D. Smallwood, UAHS class of 1974.
Jane K. Stone Fund
This fund was established by this 1962 graduate and is unrestricted in its use.
Tarrier Family Fund
The Tarrier Family Fund was established in 2014 and may be used in any curricular area.
The Tesner Family Fund
The Tesner Family Fund was established by this multi-generational UA family, this fund is unrestricted in use.
Andy Tice Memorial Fund
The Andy Tice Memorial Fund remembers this member of the Class of 2011 who passed while in the 8th grade by providing financial support to students at Jones Middle School with extra/co-curricular financial need.
Timmons Family Vocal Music Fund
This fund supports the UAHS Vocal Music Program and costs associated with musical productions.
Tremont Elementary Endowment Fund
Two former Tremont Elementary School principals established this fund to support meaningful opportunities for current and future students.
Trotier Family Fund
The Trotier Family Fund recognizes the dedication of retired teacher, Audrey Trotier, by supporting gifted, informal, and science education.
UA K-12 Technology Fund
This fund was established in 2008 to provide funding for technology opportunities in the Upper Arlington Schools.
UA Rowing Fund
The Upper Arlington Rowing Fund ​assists UA Crew.
UAHS Athletics Flow-Through Fund
This fund was created by a generous gift of stock from a community member and supports the UAHS Athletics Department.
UAHS Stadium Renovation Fund
This fund supports projects and needs to maintain the high school stadium.
Upper Arlington Rowing Foundation
This fund assists the UA rowing program in the area of capital purchases such as boats and oars.
Upper Arlington Alumni Association
The UAAA is one of the largest public high school alumni associations in the country. This fund supports the work of the UAAA and their efforts to keep all 30,000+ Golden Bear alums worldwide connected and informed.
Don and Naomi Valentine Memorial Orchestra Endowment Fund
Donald Nathaniel Valentine was a beloved orchestra teacher in Upper Arlington Schools for 35 years. He impacted hundreds of young people with his loving, encouraging and kind spirit. Don and his wife, Naomi Nishimura Valentine spent many years of their lives focusing on Don's love of teaching orchestral music to his students who they treated like their own children. He instilled students with strong values as well as a passion for music. Don was a proud veteran of the US Air Force. He served as a role model to his students by exhibiting a strong character and spirit of honor. Don passed away in March of 2020. Naomi passed away six months later in September of the same year. Students, friends and neighbors are proud to establish The Fund in memory of Don and Naomi. The purpose of The Fund will be to provide support and resources to students in the Upper Arlington Schools in the areas of performing and visual arts and leadership. A preference will be given for funding programs, projects and experiences that provide students with the opportunity to participate and excel in orchestra.
Windermere Elementary School Fund
This fund is to be used at the discretion of the principal.

This fund was established in 2023 and will be used to support meaningful opportunities for students across all grade levels.
