The Hope Garden
The Upper Arlington Education Foundation (UA+Ed) is honored to partner with the Short family and Upper Arlington Schools to create a Hope Garden to be located at Upper Arlington High School. The space will be a peaceful and welcoming place for students, families, staff, and community members to pause in times of heartache, seek hope in the midst of fear, and find joy in times of remembrance.
The Hope Garden is inspired by the life of Sam Short who passed away in April 2024. Sam was the beloved son of Mike and Tori Short, and the first graduate of UAHS’s 100th class. Sam’s courageous life and enduring optimism has led his family to create a place that honors not only his memory but all Upper Arlington students who pass away too soon.
We invite you to make a gift in honor of Sam and in remembrance of students who pass away during their time in our schools and ensure their memory continues to inspire hope and connection within our community.

All gifts are tax-deductible. Donors will receive an acknowledgement for tax purposes,
and the Short family will be notified of your thoughtful contribution (gift amounts are
not disclosed unless you request otherwise).
